The most helpful items for an unexpected hospital stay.

These were our top 10!

Typically after a severe car accident, you are brought to the hospital with virtually nothing. Share this list with your support system so they know what you’ll need first!

  1. Any special personal equipment. Contacts, glasses, hearing aids, etc.

  2. Extra long charging cable for devices. And some sort of communication device if you don’t have yours.

  3. Small notebook and pen. There are so many things being communicated to you at once!

  4. Small bag or purse. You’ll need something to carry your belongings in if you’re able to move around at all.

  5. Cash. You likely don’t have any way to pay for anything… & there are vending machines that are cash only!

  6. Toiletries & hygiene items. If you prefer nicer options than the hospital offers. Don’t forget combs and elastics for long hair and Chapstick helps with a dry mouth.

  7. Going home outfit options. Keep in mind you might need clothing that is easier to put on with one hand (button-ups) or fit over large casts (large elastic waistbands). Don’t forget easy to put on shoes!

  8. Easy to grab snacks. Although meals are available at the hospital, it’s nice for patients and visitors to have something easy to grab from the room.

  9. Something that will bring you comfort. Maybe it’s a soft blanket, a special picture, a faith item, a form of clothing, or a book.

  10. Time Passer. A magazine, book, word puzzle, sketchbook, etc.
